2018: The Year of Change and Happiness

Hello, 2018!

I can't believe that another year has come and gone, but WOW it has been a great one! Between traveling, blogging projects and events, it's been a full year of scratching off to-dos. I won't lie, 2017 definitely had ups and downs. But, each of these times were a way of opening my eyes to what's important and what was going to help me achieve my overall career goals.

I'm starting off 2018 with a big change...

At the end of last month, I decided to take the leap of faith and pursue my personal social media management business and blog full-time for a few months to see how things go. While this change is a scary one, I've been preparing for this day to jump in and give it a shot. I really felt like if I didn't try during a time when I can give it my all, then I would never know. I am taking things slow, but there have been so many friends and family members that are helping me grow beyond my wildest dreams, and aiding me in taking this next step towards my career. I have been exploring multiple opportunities with this shift and am keeping all options open to find the best fit for me. Whether that be my personal business as a full-time gig or finding an amazing position here in Tampa where I can thrive, only time will tell.

I know that this will be a huge learning experience, and that's exactly what I think I need. I am leaving things in God's hands to direct me to the next step in the glorious plan that He has for me. It may be scary, but knowing that I have Him, my family and Lantz by my side gives me the confidence to move forward in this pursuit.

I truly think that 2018 is going to be an amazing year for so many reasons! I think that change is always a challenge, but it usually has such a wonderful reward. I'm so excited to continue my search here in my town for amazing opportunities! I've set some goals/resolutions for this year, and while a lot of them are personal and business growth goals that I will track on my own, I wanted to share a few of mine with you that I think anyone can benefit from.

UNPLUG AND BE PRESENT

I've made it one of my New Year's resolutions to completely unplug for at least one full day of the week/weekend to be more present. While my phone and social media makes up a large part of my career, there is nothing better than enjoying the day with Lantz outside, taking a gym class and then making dinner together while watching Shark Tank. Those are the times that are priceless, and I don't want to miss out on any of them. I am making it my goal to try and complete my work to the best of my ability before I'm around my loved ones to be able to enjoy every minute I have with them.

SAY "YES" TO MORE

Between my work, family and life happenings this year, I was tired ALL THE TIME. I found myself wanting to spend the nights and weekends either doing more work to get ahead or just relaxing at home. While it was needed in most cases, I wish that I would've said "yes" to more social opportunities that came my way. So, this year I am going to do my best to have more of a work/life balance, and say yes to more nights out, concerts and other happenings with friends.

TRY SOMETHING NEW ONCE A MONTH

This is actually a resolution on the list under Lantz and I's growth goals. We tried to set a "date night" standard in 2017 to do something one night of each week, but that quickly became impossible in most scenarios given our ever-changing schedules. Instead, we're hoping to go and experience something new at least once a month (if more, then that's even better!). By "new" we mean something that we haven't done before or something we don't do often. There are so many areas of this town that I have yet to see, restaurants we want to try, activities we've always wanted to do - so this is going to be our way to try them out! My relationship with Lantz is something that I cherish; he's become my best friend and an amazing boyfriend. So when we get to experience these things together, I enjoy them even more.

So, those are just 3 of the 15 resolutions I have set for this year! I always set 5 personal, professional and relationship goals. I'll just have to update you all as things progress and (hopefully) as these goals are met.

I wish nothing but wonderful things for all of you!! And thank you so much for supporting me in this dream of mine! I wouldn't be where I am without you. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's rock 2018.
