7 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

With this whole virtual age that we live in, I feel like there are so many people I've connected with over social media. The funny thing is we've never seen each other face-to-face (Facetime doesn't count). I promised myself that this year I was going to be more myself with my blog so that you could all see just how much of a nerd I really am.

In order to give you a little more insight into my personality, I'm sharing seven things that you probably didn't know about me.

1. My favorite color is yellow. Now this isn't the most interesting fact, but if you look at my social channels you will notice one thing in particular - I usually stick to wearing neutrals. My friends and family know this as I am almost always wearing black at any event we attend. So you can imagine the degree of surprise when people hear that my favorite color is actually one of the brightest ones out there. I like to think that yellow is my favorite color because it's cheer-y and associated with "happy" things.

2. I'm half Cuban. Should I start incorporating Spanish into my posts? My mother and her family came to the United States when she was six years old. While we didn't speak Spanish as a primary language in our family household, I did get a dose of it every time I visited my grandparents and other family members.

3. I have an obsession with socks. No, I'm not a psycho. I am perpetually cold in our condo and love to wear cozy socks. But not just any socks - I like the bright-colored, quirky-printed, fuzzy socks that you just can't ignore. Forever21 has the best assortment of these for less than two dollars per pair. JACKPOT.

4. I have ophidiophobia. I'll save you the Google search - I have a serious fear of snakes. It doesn't matter if they're poisonous or not, I won't go within five miles of those creepy, slithering creatures. The other day Lantz informed me of his pet snake during his childhood. I politely told him there's no way in hell a snake will EVER enter our home (thankfully, he agreed whole-heartedly). Sorry kids, it's either a pet fish or a puppy.

5. My must-have accessory is my watch. This is really ironic considering my watch battery is dead and needs to be replaced as I'm writing this. I truly feel a little "naked" on days when I'm not wearing my watch. Other than that, I have a small diamond pendant necklace that I never take off. The classic pieces always win in my book.

6. I have never colored my hair. I got asked about this a lot earlier this year when I did a collaboration with Redken. My hair is "virgin hair". When it comes down to it, I'm open to coloring my hair but I can't decide what I want to do. For now I'll be keeping it au naturale.

7. My favorite candy is Tootsie Rolls. While many may opt for Reese's, Skittles or another staple sweet on the market, I just can't get enough of my beloved Tootsie Rolls. I'm a fan of the original chocolate flavor or their fun fruity options (the vanilla flavor is a nice switch sometimes!). Sour Patch Kids come in second for my favorite sugary treat.
