4 Tips for How to Dress in Humid Hotspots

Last month (YES, I am finally getting around to all my posts for the trip) we visited Grand Cayman for about a week. I thought I knew how to deal with humidity - I am from Florida after all - but quickly learned my lesson. The humidity there is NO joke.

I had packed my suitcase with options for almost every occasion. But when it came down to it, I had some of my basic pieces on repeat because they were the most comfortable. I've broken it down to four simple tips that I think made a world of a difference.

The More Flow the Better

There is nothing worse than feeling like a hot sticky bun in the middle of a sunny afternoon. Avoid that problem in a cinch by opting for flowing fabrics and shapes that won't stick to your body - think shift or tunic dresses. This pink dress by Lilla P was the answer to my prayers during this trip! It was perfect for exploring around the town, hotel and even our casual beach bar dinner on our last night!

Put It Up

YOUR HAIR. As much as I love big, voluminous curls more than anything, they didn't stand a fighting chance. I could count on one hand the number of minutes it took for them to completely deflate. I quickly did a few Pinterest searches for some easy updo options, but resorted to my favorite topknot most of the time.

Block Heel or Bust

While I was wearing sandals for most of the trip, I always wanted to dress a little nicer for our dinners and excursions when appropriate. A pair of tall heels would've worked any other day of the week, but I found comfort in a great slide-on block heel to solve my problems. It was breathable, stable and comfortable - everything you want in a vacation shoe.

Bag It Up

When you start having to worrying about carrying your camera, wallet, sunglasses, sunscreen and every other vacation necessity, it just makes more sense to throw it all into one easy bag. I opted for this straw bag over any of my leather options as it wasn't affected by the heat (watch out - leather bags can get hot when they're in the sun!) and the strap didn't stick to me! Plus, it's color variety made it blend right in with almost everything I wore.

Are you planning an upcoming trip, or just looking for the perfect everyday dresses? Look no further than Lilla P. They're affordable, a great fit and there are so many cute options to choose from! I personally also love this ikat number and this flowy, white dreamy piece!

It may be September, but the summer temps are still blazing here in Florida!
