The season of love is upon us once again!
If you know me, you know that I will rarely ever be found sporting pink. But, when it comes to February, these rules sort of go out the window. I actually wore this dress to my anniversary dinner the other evening, and after receiving so many compliments, I figured it needed to be shared with you all.
For my love and I, Valentine's Day is more about being together and the experiences rather than spending large sums of money on flashy gifts. Of course, sweets and flowers are usually in the cards, but we like to reserve the large ticket items (read: diamonds and designer) for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. With that being said, this V-Day, we're planning an intimate night in with a home-cooked meal and time together. Looking for some ideas for how to spend this lovely day? Check out my top 10 suggestions below!
10 Things To Do This Valentine's Day Together
- Make a special meal together (dessert included!). Cooking together in the kitchen is one of our favorite things to do. Turn things up a notch on V-Day by preparing an elaborate meal and eating by candlelight. Want some yummy dish options? Check out my Pinterest boards for some more inspo!
- Check out the new local spot. You don't have to limit yourself to eating in if cooking isn't what you're feeling this holiday. Make reservations at the new local eatery or sweet shop that night for something new. I highly recommend pairing this with a moonlight stroll.
- A little couple pampering time. If your schedule is anything like mine, you're ready to drop by the end of every day. Why not make an appointment for some couple time together while you can unwind. Couple's massages and some treatments at the spa always do the trick. When L and I had our first couple massage, it was fantastic! We're ready for another now....
- Book a mini getaway. I may be a bit bias... But I feel like any small getaway is a worthy investment (this includes a staycation!). Sometimes you just need a little change of scenery to savor the day.
- Do something outdoors - hiking, kayaking, bike rides or boating. Depending on where you live, you may be limited to some options during this time of year. But, that shouldn't keep you from ruling out an outdoor activity. After all, sometimes the spontaneous ones end up being the best.
- Plan a picnic. I am a HUGE fan of picnics and all their glory. There's just something about prepping and wrapping up your favorite foods in travel size portions, and laying out on a blanket in the open air. Possible picnic locations include a park, the beach and even your own living room or backyard! As an indoor option, create a blanket fort - these fun creations don't get the credit they deserve.
- Participate in a cooking class. You can kind of kill two birds with one stone here... While you get to spend time together cooking and learning in the class, then you will get to eat the dishes for dinner and dessert. As a foodie, this sounds pretty dreamy.
- Go see a movie, concert or show. This may be considered basic by many, but a classic date night should always be welcome (especially if you don't get to do it often). There's usually some new releases and decent showtimes around V-Day. Just sayin'.... #FiftyShadesDarker.
- Take your sweetie on a scavenger hunt. Bonus points if the end location is a romantic dinner setting! Make this a fun little game by scattering the clues around the house, their workplace and/or around town. They'll be racing to see what's at the end!
- Go to a sporting event in the area. Treat him on the day of love with tickets to see one of his favorite teams! Buying the game treats is necessary - hotdogs and popcorn all day!
I hope that you (and your significant other) enjoy this day together!

ReplyDeleteFor someone who doesn't sport pink very much you are sure a stunner in that number! Love all of your Valentine's Day suggestions. Sam and I like to stay in more often than not on the holiday and order in sushi and pop a bottle of fancy champagne! xx

Great list! I especially love the thought of cooking a meal together. It helps beat the crowds, over priced menus and can be so intimate.
