How to Make Homemade Galaxy Donuts

I have a permanent sweet tooth...

Whether it's 9am or 9pm, I am always craving a little something sweet. The day that I bought a donut pan and began making homemade donuts was probably the best day ever (worst day for my waistline). I've been experimenting with making the perfect donut glaze and getting the cakey center just right!

I finally feel like I've nailed the ideal consistency for both, so I've moved on to making fun designs! To date, I've made marble, ombre and galaxy donuts. Finally decided to share these ones with you all since they've been a hit amongst my friends and family!

I'm going to let you in on a little secret when you're in a rush and don't have time to make donut batter from scratch... Use cake mix! I've been baking both kinds for different occasions, but have fallen in love with making funfetti cake donuts for birthdays!

But, if you have the time to make your donut mix from scratch, this is the vanilla donut recipe that I love to use.

Galaxy Donuts Icing

- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- Food coloring
- Edible glitter or other sprinkles desired

1. Mix together butter and powdered sugar in bowl.
2. Add drops of food coloring (2-3) and use a toothpick to swirl the colors around in the bowl.
3. Take cooled donut and place face-down into bowl, turn the donut to the left or the right in a swirling motion and remove to place on cooling rack.
4. Allow icing to harden and keep refrigerated for up to 4-5 days.

Hoping this sweet little recipe brightens your day!

x, B
