Date Night Makeup

OMG. That babe you've had your eye on has finally asked you out on a date...

Tension. Overload.

No worries, gal. While your date night outfit can vary depending on the venue of choice, when it comes to that fresh, beautiful face - I've got you covered.

First dates are REAL first impressions. Yes, he's going to be all antsy in his apartment imagining what you will look like that night and try to act cool about it when you stroll up looking like a dime.

When doing your makeup for that first date, it's important to remember a few things: Don't cake on the foundation. Accentuate the cheekbones. Keep the lips looking luscious.

So ladies, follow these few tips and tricks for an evening he won't be able to forget.

1. THE FOUNDATION. While you want to cover up any blemishes and make your skin look perfectly smooth, try not to layer on too much. Depending on the lighting in some restaurants, you could end up looking clown-like and not even realize it. I'm a firm believer that in order for your face makeup to look good, you've go to keep good care of your skin. Make sure you're wearing a great moisturizer for your skin type and swipe just the right amount of foundation to even color and cover imperfections (try a primer, like Smashbox's color correcting primer, if you don't have one as a part of your makeup routine already!).

2. THE CHEEKS/CONTOURING. I think it's essential to accentuate your cheekbones and give your face some definition. If you're a newbie with contouring, first date night is probably not the best time to give it a whirl. But, instead, I recommend you take your favorite bronzer and apply a layer right along the bottom of the cheekbones to the top of your cheekbones along the side of your face. Also apply a little bit to the sides of your nose. This will give you the contouring effect without the use of a  palette or different foundations. If going this route, I also recommend using a brightener or highlighter right under your eyes, along the very top of where your cheekbones are - this helps with the sculpting as well. Once you've completed these steps, take your blush and apply a coat right on the center of the cheekbones for a natural flush - don't go overboard here!

3. THE LIPS. Depending on how your first date goes, you may or may not score a smooch at the end of the evening. Either way, wearing a killer lip color is a sure way to have him thinking about those lips the entire evening. If you're not a "kiss on the first date" type, then go with whatever color of your choosing. But, for those that are willing to give it a shot, don't go crazy. A lot of guys are intimidated at first by a woman wearing a bold lip, and I can't tell you the number of times I've heard from my guys friends that they "refuse to kiss a girl for the first time who's wearing super bright lipstick for fear of getting it all over their [the guy's] face..." Lame, I know. But, something to consider that you may have never thought about before.

I consider these three areas to be super important in the makeup routine. Making sure these are right means a flawless face in any light and maybe even cute date night selfies?!

To complete your look, add on a coat of great mascara to make those lashes pop and a sexy scent. That, my lady friends, is the key to the best natural, flawless finish.

While I wish I could say I'd be hitting the town for a hot date this evening, I'll be home packing for an upcoming trip and probably binge watching some movies in the background. Stay tuned to see where I'm traveling to this coming week!

So much awesome stuff coming to the blog soon! Have a killer weekend, readers!
xx,
B
