In celebration of the completion of my first week interning in the city at O, The Oprah Magazine, my roommate and I decided to spend the weekend in Central Park and exploring more around the Upper East Side.
We started off basking in the sun at Sheep Meadow in Central Park. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and enjoyed people-watching while at the park (it can be quite entertaining at times). From there, we made our way to the east side to cross a stop off of our summer bucket list in the city – Sprinkles Cupcake ATM. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend you take a trip by the adorable little sweet shop. Just watching the ATM work is a bit humorous, for all of us that aren’t used to such advancements at our local bakeries. I have to say, it’s a genius idea for those sweet cravings if you’re in the area, and the cupcakes are divine! They even come packaged in personal boxes for you to carry them easier.

With flavors including red velvet, coconut, traditional chocolate and vanilla, gluten-free and sugar-free selections, you’re sure to find just what you’re looking for at Sprinkles. They even bake mini size cupcakes if you’re not in the mood for a full size.
After playing around the cupcake ATM for a bit, we ventured down the street to stop into some shops like Zara, Bloomingdale’s and H&M.
My second week of interning has officially started and I couldn’t be happier. The office is a fabulous place to work and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings.

As an added bonus, I’ve been able to enjoy my evening runs with a calming view of the East River. The East River Run Path stretches all the way around the bottom of the island of Manhattan, and I have to say, it’s such a different view than I’m used to when usually running (either the inside of a gym or residential areas).

Loving life in the city so far! But, I am missing home a little bit. Have any suggestions for things to do while in NYC? Let me know!
xx, B
