The day is finally here! After much daydreaming and planning of outfits, it’s finally time to set sail on my cruise to the Bahamas. But, with every trip comes the what-in-the-world-should-I-pack dilemma that drives all of us crazy.
I’m here to make things a little easier.

For your tropical getaway, there are some key clothing items to have in your suitcase:
  • Bikini(s) – Whether your boarding a cruise ship or driving to the Keys, a bathing suit is obviously needed. If you’re using a method of transportation that requires long amounts of driving or flying, I would recommend throwing your suit into a carry-on or your purse. Wearing a suit underneath clothes can be uncomfortable after a while.
  • Cover-up – When it comes to covering up, you have to decide what makes you the most comfortable. For me, it’s a pair of denim cutoffs and a breezy tank or an airy kimono. For others, it’s sundresses or crochet numbers. Whatever you feel best in, bring two (an extra just in case – you never know about a laundry situation).
  • Basic tanks – I suggest about 2-3 of these depending on the length of your trip. You never know when you’ll have to make a quick trip to the store or have it as an easy outfit with a pair of shorts on any given day. Try to bring one black, one white and one color of your choice.
  • Palazzo Pants – As a pant option, these are the best. They’re super light and flattering on almost every body type. Truth be told, they feel so islander, too. Try to find a pair that are solid or patterned if you’ve got the rest of the pieces to match – nothing is more annoying than not being able to complete an outfit!
  • Maxi Dress – When in doubt, pack extra maxis. They are the best transitional piece you will probably pack, transforming from casual day on the beach to dinner and drinks at night with a simple change of accessories.
  • Romper – Another one-item ensemble that just makes our lives so much easier.
  • Neutral wedges – If you’re anything like me, you’ve packed bright colors and beautiful floral prints. So, to make things easier, throw in your favorite pair of nude or neutral-toned wedges that can match any of your outfits for the week.
  • Sunglasses – Bring an extra pair just in case!
  • Headbands, scarves, belts, etc. – Any other items that you need to pull an outfit together or may need to spruce things up, pack ‘em! I find it easiest to lay out all of my outfits on my bed beforehand to see what I may need (or don’t need) to fit in that suitcase.
I’m off to Port Canaveral to board my ship! Unfortunately, I won’t be back to post new material until Friday, but stay tuned for posts about all my adventures and daily fashion!
Have a lovely week, readers!
xx, B
