It’s a blast from the past on the blog today! I’m taking you readers back to one of my first photo shoots for the subject of bohemian style – one of my absolute favorite looks.
Yes, this was the little, high school me. When picking out my outfit the night before was a priority and waking up two hours early was necessary for a good hair day. The time of patterned backpacks, bring-from-home lunches and of course, high school classes. But, wedged in the middle of all that craziness, I spent a day with a dear friend of mine (who happened to be a fantastic photographer) and we captured a few fabulous shots that I’ve kept over the years.
When it comes to bohemian styles and lace pieces, you can almost never go wrong. Their flowy, free-spirited and most of the time, SUPER comfortable. The dress I’m wearing in this pictures was actually a thrift find (I know right?!) and usually worn under a denim jacket.

Boho style isn’t clear-cut. You can make it whatever you want. Of course, there are certain pieces that we look at and instantly think: Boho. But, it’s also a state of mind. Personally, I go with the flow and am pretty laid-back. When it comes to clothing, comfort overrules in a lot of places. If you’re trying to achieve that effortless boho look, here’s a few tips.

1. Buy chunky, unique jewelry. 2. Purchase some vintage pieces that have character (thrift finds are the best!). 3. Try layering your clothing. 4. Wear those worn-out jeans you have in the back of your closet. 5. Look for interesting patterns or florals when buying clothes. 6. Flats are the typical staple (unless barefoot), try to find ones with straps or small embellishments. 7. Mix up pieces that don’t look too matchy-matchy (we’re going for the carefree look here).

Most of all, do as you like. Boho-chic doesn’t just mean flowing skirts and peasant tops. The important aspect of bohemian style is individuality – embrace your own personality and express it through your clothing.
Inspire others with your style readers! What’s your favorite thing about boho style?
xx, B
