DIY COFFEE MUGS

It’s the sunday before Christmas and all through my house, holidays movies are playing and baking is underway!
There’s nothing better than baking some scrumptious treats for loved ones and crafting while they’re cooking in the oven. My craft project today? DIY sharpie coffee mugs. Talk about one of the simplest gifts I’ve ever made, and each cup cost less than $3 to make.
What you’ll need:
  • Coffee Mugs – I bought mine from the dollar store and they worked just perfect! I recommend buying white coffee mugs to design, black or dark-colored mugs can sometimes become discolored during the process. You may want to buy an extra mug or two just in case you mess up on the first one.
  • Sharpies – If you’re using white mugs, you can use as many colors that you want! I’m rather traditional, so I stuck to black, white, gold and red for my cups.
What to do:
  1. Select your design for your cup – It helps to have these chosen before you start and if it’s a design that you haven’t done before, you may want to considering sketching it onto paper for practice.
  2. Start drawing! Get really creative with your stuff – I used Kate Spade inspired quotes and phrases in other languages. Note: This make for some adorable Instagram pictures if they turn out well.
  3. Once your drawing is complete, place the mug in the oven (on 350 degrees) for about 30 minutes to let the ink set. MAKE SURE that you turn the oven on after the mugs are in and leave them in until the oven is cooled. Pulling them out beforehand can lead to cracking.
Want to add a little more to the mug as a gift? Fill the cup with your friend’s favorite candy, some jewelry or even gift cards! Slap on a pretty bow and you’re good to go.
I can’t believe that Christmas is just around the corner! It seems like this year has just flown by. Our tree is lit, The Santa Clause is on television and I’m baking away (peppermint crunch brownies anyone?). It’s been a fantastic sunday, and I hope yours has been too!
